Mike captained, both, the basketball and football teams during his Junior and Season years at Bullis. During his Senior year, Mike won the Manual Jose Baca Joy of Living Award. This award is given to the Bullis student "whose positive attitude, willingness to face life's difficulties without complaint and determination to enjoy life's blessings to the fullest."

Although Mike could have played college basketball, Mike went to The Catholic University of America to play football. As a Freshman, Mike started at defensive back and made an immediate impact.
